PSA: my worst week on the highway totaled three cars in six days
Last May I was driving home on I-85 near Atlanta and got rear-ended by a distracted teen on a Tuesday. Then Thursday morning a deer jumped right over the median and smashed into my rental's front end. By Sunday I was driving a loaner from my buddy's lot and some guy ran a red light at the intersection of Piedmont and Monroe. Three wrecks in one week. Each time I walked away without a scratch but my insurance premium jumped $400. Has anyone else had a stretch of bad luck like that where you just wanted to stop driving for a month?

Wait, are you saying you actually want MORE wrecks in your life? I mean, three in a week sounds like the universe giving you a pretty clear message to stay off the road for a while. Your insurance premium going up $400 is annoying but maybe that's the price of learning to pay attention. I've had two fender benders in ten years and both times I figured it was my fault for not being more careful. Maybe instead of blaming bad luck you should look at your own driving habits.

That part about "the universe giving you a pretty clear message" really hits home. My friend Sara had a month where she got hit by a shopping cart, backed into a fire hydrant, and then her neighbor's tree fell on her car all within three weeks. She said she started taking the bus for a while just to give her car a break.
