TIL my rave review for a cheap mp3 player forgot about its glue melting issue

My buddy bought this fancy hiking backpack that felt perfect in the store, all the straps adjusted smooth. He took it on one real trail and the main zipper got stuck halfway, then the hip belt clip just snapped off. Ended up carrying it like a weird grocery bag for three miles back to the car. Felt like a total scam after that first trip.

Tiny screws that strip easy make repairs a nightmare

My Pixel 4a had those tiny screws, and I never stripped any during a battery swap. They seem delicate, but with careful handling, it's manageable (most of the time, anyway). Maybe it's more about technique than the hardware itself.

My drill bit nearly found a water line while putting up shelves

Yeah, the part about kitchen sinks rings true. I was reading something the other day about how a lot of DIY plumbing mishaps happen right under sinks because all the lines are so close together. The article mentioned that PEX lines are actually a bit more forgiving if you nick them, unlike copper which just bursts. Still, hitting any pipe is a bad day. Makes that stud finder look like a real hero.

Am I the only one whose friends give unsafe car advice?

Remember when people said brand didn't matter for filters? I used to grab the cheapest one and figured it was fine. Seeing how a real failure can wreck an engine totally changed my mind on that.

My chiffon sewing hack involves a glue stick

Sometimes the best art comes from messing around with stuff you have at home. My cousin made a whole wall hanging from old bottle caps and string, and it actually looked pretty cool (in a weird, fun way). Makes you wonder what else we're tossing out that could be turned into something neat.
