Can we talk about the $40 Zoids figure I bought at a comic shop in 1999?
I blew $40 of birthday money on a Zoids model kit because the box art looked so cool, and then I got it home and spent 3 hours snapping tiny pieces together while the show was on in the background. Turns out it was worth it though, because my little brother and I played with that thing for years and it held up way better than the cheap toys. Did anyone else get sucked into Zoids or was it just me and my brother?
Grabbed the Liger Zero kit from a mall hobby shop around the same time and yeah, it was totally worth it. Spent way too long snapping those little caps on the joints and stabbing my thumbs on the sprues, but that thing survived so many backyard battles. My cousin had a Command Wolf and we'd spend whole afternoons building forts out of couch cushions and pretending the living room was a desert battlefield. Honestly those kits took a beating that would have wrecked any regular action figure and kept on going. Something about building it yourself first made it feel like more than a toy. Still kinda miss the show too, that theme song pops into my head way more often than it should.
