inThat hammer-in at the New England Blacksmiths meet changed my whole approach to drawing out
Hang on, I gotta push back on that. Counting blows per heat sounds like you're overthinking something that's supposed to be about feel and muscle memory. I've been forging for 15 years and never once counted my hits, I just go until the steel feels right or starts to cool off. That guy from Maine probably got his tenon done fast because he's been doing it so long he doesn't need to measure anything, not because he's counting. If you start worrying about numbers you'll lose the natural rhythm that makes blacksmithing smooth. Plus, every piece of steel is different, so a count that works for one heat might mess you up on the next.

inTossed my old coffee scoop after 3 years of weak mornings
7 grams instead of 15? That's literally half the coffee, how did you not notice?

inThe stitching gap in braided fleece toys
Switched to tightly spaced knots years ago for the same reason and never looked back. Those store-bought toys with big gaps are just asking for trouble with an eager chewer. My tip is to tie every half inch and cut the tails real short so there's nothing loose to grab onto.

inMy new drone decided to take a swim in the lake at the park last weekend
The first time my drone took an unscheduled dip was right after I named it "Titanic Jr." so I only had myself to blame. 120 bucks and a 2 hour drive to the nearest lake later, I realized I'd left the SD card at home. It was a voluntary swim in the sense that the wind decided it for me, and the drone had no objections. I mean, at least it got a nice cool bath while I stood there waving a fishing rod like an idiot. Idk, maybe the fish appreciated the new underwater decor.

inMet a GC at a diner who taught me more in 10 minutes than 2 years on the job
@the_felix, did he give you a good reason why nail guns are worse than hand nailing for that part?
