Got a chunky GameCube controller from a flea market for $6 and it fixed my Mario Kart drifting problem overnight
Some older guy at the Canton flea market pointed at my worn out joystick and said 'that thing's shot, son, grab this one' and handed me a third party controller with these big rubber grips that actually feels better than the official one, has anyone else found random retro gear that just works way better than you expected?

Yo that's a great find! I grabbed a beat up N64 controller at a garage sale for like 3 bucks a few years back, thing looked like it had been through a war but the joystick was somehow way tighter than my official one. Ended up using it for Mario Party mini games and it was night and day, no more random spin outs. Those third party companies sometimes just nail the feel for certain stuff.

Bet you that beat up controller was a Hori Mini Pad. Those things are borderline legendary for how good the sticks hold up. Everyone chases the official ones but the real secret is those cheaper third party pads that got ignored back in the day.
