Why does nobody admit that waking up slow beats an alarm every time
Everyone in this club swears by their alarm tricks, but I think fighting your body to wake up fast is the real problem. Last Tuesday I let myself come out of a 30 minute nap in my recliner with zero alarm, just the sun through the blinds in my Denver apartment, and I felt better than any timed wake up I have tried in 2 years. My heart rate was steady, my head was clear, and I got through the rest of the day without that groggy fog. Does anyone else just let the light do the work, or am I the only one who thinks alarms ruin the whole point?
Woke up last Saturday to my cat walking on my chest instead of my phone screaming at me, and it was honestly the best I have felt in weeks. No jolt, no panic, just slowly blinking at the ceiling until my brain caught up with my body. When my alarm goes off I feel like I got yanked out of a dream by my collar, and the fog hangs around till lunch. I have tried the fancy sunrise clocks, the ones that glow orange, and even they feel like a trick compared to just leaving the blinds cracked. Letting the light creep in on its own time makes the whole morning feel less like a fight.
