Totally get what you mean... had a smart thermostat that kept showing weird cooling cycles in winter. Checked it out and found a slow refrigerant leak the basic checkup missed. Stuff like that makes the tech worth it, even if it feels like overkill at first. It's exactly what @young.val said about finding the problems we don't see... just quietly saving money and bigger headaches down the line.
