I keep seeing people call basic chatbots 'AI' and it's starting to bug me

Watched a webinar last week where a company kept showing off their 'new AI' that just had pre-set menu options. It couldn't learn or adapt at all. That's just a script, not machine learning. It matters because it waters down what real innovation looks like. Has anyone else run into this and found a good way to explain the difference?

What happens when you try to correct them? Do they get defensive?

Wait, they called a menu an AI? That's just a fancy list!

They just want to sound smart. It's marketing fluff for a basic feature. Calling it AI is a real stretch.
