Serious question, the self-checkout at my grocery store in Boise started guessing my produce and it got me thinking
I was at the WinCo on Cole Road in Boise last Saturday and the self-checkout actually flashed a picture of a jalapeno when I set my bag down, no PLU code needed. It got 4 out of 5 items right, but it called my zucchini a cucumber twice. That tiny mistake is what got me, because a year ago that screen just sat there waiting for me to type numbers like a dummy. Now the thing is guessing based on weight and shape, and it's mostly right. It made me realize how much of this stuff is already in everyday stores and nobody talks about it. How accurate does a guess like that need to be before you would trust it without checking the screen?
