Frozen store-bought fries vs homemade in the air fryer

I kept buying those frozen bags of crinkle fries thinking they were fine. Then last week I tried cutting up a russet potato myself, tossed them in a tablespoon of oil and some salt, and put them in at 400 for 15 minutes. The homemade ones came out way crispier and actually tasted like potato instead of cardboard. Has anyone else made the switch and not looked back?

Same here. Frozen fries are DEAD to me now. Homemade in the air fryer is a total game changer.

Wait, have you actually timed how long it takes to cut potatoes and soak them to get the starch out? Because I have, and it's like 45 minutes of prep for something that's gone in 10. Plus frozen fries are consistent - every single fry is the same shape and thickness so they cook evenly. With homemade you end up with some that are too thin and burn while the thick ones stay soggy.
