Last Tuesday I lined the basket with foil to catch grease from a batch of wings, and the foil curled up and blocked the air holes on the bottom, so the wings came out pale and soggy on one side after 20 minutes at 380. I pulled the foil out, wiped the basket, and ran the next batch bare with a little oil spray, and they crisped up in 16 minutes with way better browning. Turns out the foil was choking the airflow the whole time and I was blaming my machine. Now I just soak the basket in hot soapy water for 10 minutes and scrub it, which is honestly less work than fighting with foil. Anyone got a better way to keep the basket clean without blocking air, or is soaking the basket the move?
