Why does nobody talk about air frying frozen taquitos with a spray of oil?

Last week my buddy Rick stopped by after his shift at the Home Depot off Highway 50 and I threw a bag of those frozen chicken taquitos in my air fryer. He told me I was doing it wrong because I wasn't spraying them with a little avocado oil first. Tried it his way at 380 for 8 minutes and they came out way crispier than the usual dry chewy mess. Has anyone else noticed the difference with a light oil spray on frozen stuff?

My air fryer manual says don't use oil spray on the basket lining. It messes up the nonstick coating over time. Last week I tried the taquitos without spray at 400 for 10 minutes and they came out fine. Not burnt, not chewy. Just regular crispy. Honestly people act like a half second spray of avocado oil is some kind of life hack. It's not that deep.

Dude, same here. I started spraying my frozen egg rolls with a little canola oil and 375 for 10 minutes changed everything.
