Finally quit fighting safety wire by hand, 3 months later
I used to twist safety wire with pliers for every job, took forever on brake calipers. My lead handed me a pair of $40 wire twisters last Tuesday and I laughed, but after one use on a Cessna nose gear I'm sold. Anyone else refuse a tool for years then realize it was worth every penny?

Man, that brings back a memory from my first year turning wrenches. I had this old timer next to me who insisted on using the ancient flat blade screwdriver trick for safety wire, swore twisters were for guys who couldn't feel the tension right. He spent a whole afternoon on a landing gear door while I finished a full brake job with my cheap pair. He never admitted I was faster, just said my wire looked prettier than his and left it at that. Whole hangar still jokes about it when someone brings out a new tool. Nothing wrong with sticking to old habits, but sometimes you gotta let the tool do the work.
