I mocked calibrated torque wrenches for YEARS, but a stripped crankcase bolt proved me WRONG.

Oh man, that stripped crankcase bolt line hits home. I had the same stubborn attitude until I snapped a wheel stud clean off trying to get my lug nuts "good and tight" with a breaker bar. Years of backyard mechanic work taught me nothing beats the click of a properly set torque wrench. That one stupid mistake cost me an afternoon drilling out the stud. I never skip the torque wrench on critical stuff now.

What about the stuff you don't think is critical?

Totally feel that pain! Snapping a wheel stud sounds like a nightmare. It's crazy how one little "it's fine" moment can ruin your whole day. Torque wrenches really do save so much headache, even on stuff that seems simple.
