Ha, I feel this. I kept my comic book collection in a non-climate controlled shed for like four years and I'm pretty sure they're all just brittle now, which is great because I was planning on retiring on the value of Amazing Spider-Man #300. The rubber seals on my car are basically fossilized at this point, so maybe I should just admit defeat and pay the extra forty bucks. The musty smell you mentioned is definitely what finally got me to switch too, that stuff is impossible to get out.

And another thing people don't think about - that wall's probably been holding moisture for days if the rain's been steady. Bricks are like sponges inside. They don't just dry out overnight. You gotta check the core of the brick, not just the surface. I've seen guys slap mortar on a wall that felt dry to the touch but was still wet an inch deep. That mix never grabs right. Give it a full 72 hours of sun and wind before you even mix a batch.

Buddy of mine once drove to three different auto shops just to confirm a part number because his parts guy was out sick. Spent half a day on that wild goose chase, turns out the part was wrong anyway. So honestly not sure the old system made us any better at diagnosing, just better at wasting gas.

Oh man, I was the exact same way. I remember telling my brother his air fryer was just a tiny convection oven and that I'd never give up my deep fryer. Then I caved and tried a batch of Foster Farms wings at 380 for 15 minutes and literally ate my words with hot sauce dripping down my chin. The skin gets all bubbly and crisp in a way I didn't expect. My only regret is not buying a bigger basket because now I'm doing three batches just to feed myself and pretending it's for "meal prep.
