Showerthought: the $4 HF pick set I laughed at saved my butt on a fuel pump swap
Three weeks ago at the hangar in Wichita, a new guy pulls out one of those $4 pick sets from Harbor Freight and I gave him a hard time about it, told him real picks come from the tool truck. Fast forward to a 737 fuel pump job and my $60 name brand pick snapped right at the tip, and his cheap set had this tiny 90 degree hook that got the o-ring out without scratching the bore. I still think most cheap tools are a gamble, but I've got that set in my box now and it's earned its spot. Anybody else got a tool they talked trash about until it bailed them out?

Ever notice how the tool that saves you is never the one you bragged about? That cheap set stays in the box forever once it earns its keep, no fanfare needed.
