The old way of torqueing spark plugs was wrong for me
For 11 years I followed the book that said torque spark plugs to the lower spec for aluminum heads. That went fine until I had a misfire on a Lycoming last spring and found a plug backing out after 30 hours. I switched to the upper spec plus a drop of anti-seize on the threads, and in the last 8 months of doing annuals and top overhauls I have not seen one loose plug. I know the manuals say to stay low, but does anyone else find the lower spec leaves too much room for vibration to work things loose?
