Used to torque every bolt by feel, then a prop change in Reno humbled me
For most of my career I snugged things down and called it good, because that is how the old guys in the shop taught me. After I stretched a stud on a constant speed prop in Reno two winters back, I bought a $180 torque wrench and now I log every value in a pocket notebook. Anybody else keep a torque log, or is that just me being paranoid?
Reminds me of the guy who rebuilt his carb twice before realizing the fuel line was cracked, sometimes the tool matters less than knowing what to look for.
