Can we talk about the guy who swore a magnetic reed switch would never fail
I laughed at this veteran installer named Ray in Daytona who kept a jar of old reed switches on his van dash, saying he had yanked every one off a job after a lightning strike. Last month I got a callback on a sliding door in Ormond Beach that kept showing open on the keypad, and sure enough the reed was stuck closed. Cost me a full trip back plus a ticked off homeowner. Now I'm wondering how many of you keep spares of a part you think never dies?
