I thought the foil tape trick was nonsense until a job in Gary proved me wrong
Some older installer at a supply house in Hammond kept going on about wrapping foil tape around door contacts on metal frames, and I nodded along and never did it. Figured it was one of those old timer things that just gets repeated. Then I get a callback in Gary, 3 weeks after install, guy says his back door keeps showing fault. Turned out the contact was picking up the steel frame and acting weird, and a $4 roll of foil tape fixed it in about 5 minutes. Now I keep a roll in the van and I've used it on 4 jobs since spring. Anybody else got a cheap trick like that they blew off for years?
