my panel firmware update made every sensor in the building go haywire
I did a routine firmware push on a DSC panel for a small office complex in Tucson last Thursday, and within 20 minutes three motion detectors started false triggering. The customer called me in a panic saying they had ghosts or something. I checked the zone wiring first and that was fine, so I tried rolling back the firmware to the previous version and everything settled down. Turns out the new release had a sensitivity default that got set to high on the PIRs, and the HVAC vents in that building were blowing right on them. I've done close to 40 firmware updates as of now, and this is the first one that ever gave me grief. Has anyone else seen a panel update mess with sensor thresholds like that, or is this just a weird DSC thing?
