That fancy cellular dialer was a waste of $400 for my rural jobs

I bought a high-end cellular communicator last fall thinking it would solve signal issues out in the sticks near Flagstaff. It dropped right after the first install and their support blamed the tower, leaving me to redo two sites for free. Any of you had better luck with a backup landline option instead?
