Why does nobody talk about the time I wasted on cheap coax connectors
Back around 2019 I was doing a small commercial job in Mesa and grabbed a bag of 50 no-name BNC crimps to save about $20 over the good ones. Two weeks later the panel started throwing trouble on three zones, and I traced it back to loose center pins on those cheap connectors. Took me a whole Saturday pulling and re-terminating six runs, plus I ate the cost of a new box of decent fittings, so I figure I lost about $150 and a day off. Now I test every connector with a tug before it goes in the wall. What brands are you all actually trusting for BNC crimps these days?
Who knew saving 20 bucks could cost you a whole Saturday AND a day off? Those cheap connectors really saw you coming, huh. Anyway I've had good luck with Amphenol, but now I'm gonna be tug-testing everything too.
