Drove past my old place in Red Deer after 8 years and barely knew it
The 1978 bungalow on 43rd that still had orange shag and a wood stove when I sold it in 2016 now has new vinyl windows, a dark grey exterior, and what looks like a fully finished basement, and honestly it got me wondering how much of that was the flipper versus just this market carrying everything up.
Those dark grey flips are like the official uniform of every house in the prairies now. Orange shag to sad grey box, quite the glow up (or glow down, depending who you ask). Half the houses on my old street got the same treatment, so I'm betting it was the market doing most of the heavy lifting and the flipper just riding the wave. Kinda wild what 8 years and a hot market will do to a place you thought you knew.
