My neighbor in Red Deer said my sidewalk was poured wrong, and now I can't unsee it
So my neighbor Gord came over while I was shoveling and asked if my sidewalk ever heaved in the winter, and I said yeah, every single spring. He pointed at the control joints and said they should've been cut every 5 feet instead of 8, and that's why I get that one slab popping up by the gate every year. I kind of laughed it off, but then I measured it and sure enough, 8 feet on the dot. He used to pour concrete for 22 years up in Edmonton, so I figured he knew what he was talking about. Now I'm walking around the block staring at everyone's driveways like some kind of concrete inspector. Has anyone else had a neighbor casually wreck how you see your own house?
Reminds me of when my uncle told me my fence posts were only sunk two feet and now every windstorm I'm out there staring at the fence waiting for it to tip over. Ignorance was cheaper back then.
