Pro tip: check your eavestrough brackets before the snow hits, learned this in Airdrie
Woke up to a weird scraping sound above the bedroom window around 6:30 on a Tuesday morning... went outside and the whole run of eavestrough had sagged like 4 inches, water was pouring over the side. The brackets were rusted through at the seams, never even thought to look at them since we bought the place 5 years ago. Ended up spending $220 on new brackets and a ladder rental, plus a full afternoon of reattaching everything before that meltwater did damage to the siding. Anyone else had their gutters fail in the middle of a chinook, or am I just the lucky one?

Damn, $220 just for brackets and a ladder rental? That stings. Never woulda figured rusty brackets would be the thing that takes out the whole gutter system. Sounds like you got lucky catching it before the siding took a beating though, that meltwater can wreck way more than gutters.
