Shoutout to the home inspector in Red Deer who saved me from a money pit
I figured inspectors were just box checkers who walked around with a clipboard for 90 minutes, so I almost skipped it on a place in Red Deer to save the $450. Good thing I didn't, because the guy found a cracked foundation seam and knob and tube wiring hiding behind a finished basement wall. He looked at me and said "this house has good bones, but it's got bad blood." I walked away from that deal and the next one he checked out was clean, so I guess the skepticism was backwards. How do you all vet your inspectors, or do you just go with whoever your realtor suggests?
