Switched from tankless to a good old storage tank for our Red Deer house

I was dead set on tankless when we reno'd our basement last year. Every plumber I talked to pushed it, and I loved the idea of endless hot water. But after 8 months of waiting 40 seconds for hot water in the shower and the unit short-cycling every time someone used the kitchen tap, I swapped it for a 50 gallon power vent. Night and day difference, the water's hot in 15 seconds and my gas bill actually dropped $22 a month because the thing isn't constantly firing up. Anyone else make the switch back and feel silly about the hype?

Fourteen months, that's how long I lasted with my tankless before I pulled the plug. The 45 second wait for lukewarm water every single morning was like a personal insult. I'm glad I'm not the only one who fell for the "infinite hot water" marketing line, because it turns out infinite means you just wait forever for it to arrive. My gas bill went down too, which is the part nobody mentions in the sales pitch about efficiency. Welcome back to the boring, reliable side, it's way better here.
