Anyone still hand watering their yard, or did you all switch to drip lines?
I used to drag hoses around my place off Montgomery every single morning, two hours before work, just trying to keep the grass from going brown. Now I run drip lines on a timer and my water bill went from $118 to $74 a month, so that part is not really up for debate for me. But here is where I go back and forth. The drip keeps things alive, not great. My roses and the big elm look okay, but the grass got patchy in spots the drip misses, and I am out there with a hose anyway to fix it. The hand watering let me see everything up close, so I caught a broken sprinkler head and a leak at the spigot right away, which you never notice with a timer running. Then again, I was spending almost two hours a day in July, and my kids were eating breakfast alone while I stood in the yard. So which way do you all go now, timer and drip and just live with a few dead spots, or still out there every morning with the hose in hand?
