Just flushed $150 on a 'Python for beginners' Udemy course that was just a guy reading docs out loud

Whoa, wait - he actually copy-pasted from the official Python website and called it a course? That's wild. @barbarahill I feel you on the JavaScript scam, I got hit with one where the guy literally just read the table of contents of a textbook. The project-based stuff is where it's at though - I found a free series on YouTube where this dude built a crappy text-based adventure game and accidentally crashed it like three times. Watching him panic and then talk through his debugging process taught me more than any fake-reviewed $150 course ever could. Those polished courses with 5-star ratings are usually the worst offenders.

Tried a rain barrel for the first time and got way more water than I expected

Yeah but has anyone actually measured how much water they're wasting just from the overflow? I'd bet we're all dumping tons of usable water down the drain without even realizing it.

Switched from a basic respirator to a 3M 7500 series for a big pour last week

When I did my first quantitative fit test with a PortaCount, the difference between a 95 and a 200+ fit factor was night and day. Started getting headaches and coughing fits after shifts with a cheap N95 that barely passed. Turns out I was getting a lot of dust through the nose bridge gap. Took me two hours of trying different brands to find one that actually sealed against my face shape. Now I won't touch a respirator unless it hits at least a 100 on the particle count test.

A senior dev told me to stop copying code from Stack Overflow last week

Wait, hold on. You mean you were just copy pasting without even retyping the stuff? I thought everyone at least typed it out to avoid breaking their code halfway through. That's wild to me. I've been doing that for years not even thinking about it, just because my fingers have to move or I don't feel like I actually wrote the code. Good on that senior dev for pointing it out, but man, I'm kind of shocked you never tried it before.

Had to pick between wings and tofu bites for game night

@jason_stone12 nailed it with those cauliflower wings - once you nail the texture, even the biggest meat fans come around. Tofu bites at 400 for 12 minutes is my go-to now for game nights, way less greasy than wings and nobody complains.
