Bought a cheap hose splitter at Lowes 3 months ago, finally threw it in the trash this morning

I got tired of dragging hoses around my yard in the Heights so I picked up one of those plastic Y-splitters for $8. Leaked from day one, but I kept telling myself it was fine. This morning after soaking the side of my house for an hour I yanked it off and smashed it. Picked up a brass one from Ace Hardware for $18 and it sealed tight first try. Anybody got a go-to brand for hose fittings that actually hold up in this sun?

Did you try putting some thread tape on the connections? Even the good brass ones will leak if you don't wrap the threads right. A lot of people skip that step and then blame the splitter. Also if you got a plastic one from Lowes, those things are junk in the sun anyway, they get brittle after a month. The Ace brass one should last you years though, just make sure you don't overtighten it or the threads will strip out.

Yeah I tried thread tape on that cheap plastic one and it still leaked like a sieve, probably because the threads were molded by a kindergartner. Pretty sure I could have wrapped it in bubble gum and duct tape and it would have found a way to drip. You ever have a fitting that just refuses to cooperate no matter what you do?
