Changed my mind on swamp coolers after mine quit during that 104 degree week in June
I used to swear by my swamp cooler over AC, but when it died mid-June and the repair guy quoted $480 just for the pump and pad swap, I finally put in a mini split. My July power bill came in at $118 versus the $95 I was paying with the cooler, and the house actually stays cool when the monsoon humidity hits. Anyone else made the switch and figured out a way to keep that cost gap from getting too wide?
