TIL a neighbor on my street thinks xeriscaping tanks your home value, and I just don't buy it
A guy on my block in the NE heights told me last week that tearing out his lawn for gravel and chamisa would cost him "$15k in resale, easy," and I bit my tongue but I think he has it backwards. With the water rates climbing again this summer, buyers out here are starting to ask about irrigation bills before they ask about the kitchen. I get that curb appeal matters, but a brown lawn in July is not the selling point he thinks it is. Has anyone actually had a buyer walk away over rock landscaping, or is this just an old idea that won't die?
