Why does nobody talk about how having a pool in Albuquerque is overrated for families with young kids?

I think the constant worry and upkeep make it more trouble than it's worth, especially with young children.

Wait, you're worried about the upkeep? The real shocker is thinking it's safe with toddlers running around. Drowning is a silent killer, and that fear alone would keep me up at night. Just seems like a terrifying liability for years.

My cousin's neighbor had a pool and their two-year-old got past a sliding door lock last summer. It took less than three minutes. This constant low-grade fear around water is everywhere now, like how every kids' birthday party has at least three adults just staring at the pool edge the whole time. We've turned fun into a security detail.

What's the point of a pool if you're too busy being a lifeguard to ever get in? Might as well just fill it with sand and call it a day.
