Bought the $60 "collector's edition" of a show I ended up dropping after 4 episodes
I finally pulled the trigger on that fancy box set at a con in Portland back in March, $60 for 13 episodes and a art book. Got home, watched the first 4 over a weekend, and just felt nothing. The plot was fine, the characters were fine, but "fine" isn't worth 60 bucks. It sat on my shelf for 5 months until I sold it to a used shop for $18. That's a $42 lesson on buying physical media before I actually finish the show. Does anyone else wait for a rewatch before dropping cash on a set, or is that just me being cheap?
Selling it for $18 is the real kicker. Used shops give you like 30% of what they'll sell it for, so they probably flipped it for $45 and made back most of what you lost. Nobody ever talks about the resale side of this hobby but it's the whole reason some of these sets hold value.
Sitting on it for 5 months was the smart part. Most people panic sell right away and eat the full loss.
