Got better anime recs from one Reddit comment than 6 months of MAL browsing
I used to just sort MyAnimeList by score and watch whatever was top 50, which honestly gave me a lot of same-y battle shonen and a few duds. Then last month someone in a 'hidden gems' thread told me to check out an obscure 1998 OVA called Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, and it totally reset how I pick shows. Now I search for threads with the word 'underrated' and sort by controversial, then cross-check the recs against a 3-episode rule before committing. It feels like I'm actually talking to people instead of an algorithm, you know? Anybody else find their best watches from random forum replies or deep comment chains rather than the big lists?
