Hit 500 episodes of One Piece last night and still can't decide if the pacing is genius or a scam to make us suffer through 20 minutes of reaction shots per fight

I binged through 200 episodes in two weeks during the Marineford arc but now I'm stuck at Dressrosa where Luffy spent like 3 whole episodes just running toward Doflamingo, so which side are you on, are the slow parts worth it for the big moments or is this just bad editing?

Laughing at the phrasing "genius or a scam" because yeah that's literally the One Piece experience. I quit watching for like 6 months after Dressrosa's running sequence because I couldn't take the constant flashbacks to characters I just saw 2 minutes ago. But then I caved and watched 50 episodes in one weekend because Oda somehow makes me care about every random side character's backstory. Honestly I think I'm just addicted to the emotional payoff even if getting there takes literal years of my life. Probably not great editing but at this point I've invested way too much time to admit it's bad pacing.
