Showerthought: Watched Golden Boy dubbed in 2003 and it still holds up weirdly well

I was at a buddy's place in Austin last night and he put on the old Golden Boy dub from 2003. Does anyone else think that English cast nailed the over-the-top energy better than most modern dubs?

lol you been sleeping on it? I rewatched that same dub like two months ago and it still cracks me up. The voice actor for Kengo literally sounds like he's having the time of his life hamming it up. That whole scene where he's biking through the city yelling about the windows really sticks with me. Modern dubs try too hard to be clean and polished, Golden Boy was just pure chaotic fun. Feels like they actually let the cast go wild instead of holding back.
