Vent: everyone says skip the long running shonen, but binging 200 episodes of One Piece in 3 weeks was the best decision I made
People on here keep saying watch the remake or read the manga, but I sat down with my roommate in our apartment in Boise and we made it to episode 200 in 19 days. That stretch from Arlong Park to Alabasta hit harder watching it all back to back because the small character moments actually stuck with me instead of getting lost over months. The filler never bothered me either, I just liked living in that world every night after work. Does anyone else think the pacing complaints are way overblown?
Tbh the thing nobody brings up is how the week by week watch messes with your memory of the show. When you drag it out over years your brain just keeps the big fights and the hype moments and dumps all the little stuff, so people end up saying the pacing is bad when really they just forgot the parts that made it work. Binging keeps the whole thing fresh in your head so the slow build actually lands the way it was written to land. Also watching with your roommate changes everything because you get to talk about it right after each ep instead of sitting on your thoughts for a week. Two people catching small stuff together notice way more than one person grinding through it alone. The pacing complaints mostly come from folks who caught up and had to wait, not from folks who watched it straight through.
