Factory parts vs aftermarket for a 12 year old LG washer, which way do you lean?
I had a crusty drum bearing job last month in Austin and grabbed the aftermarket kit for $85, but the OEM was $210. It fit fine so far, but I keep second guessing if the seal will hold past a year. Do you guys usually eat the cost or roll the dice when the machine is that old?
Going with the cheap kit on a 12 year old machine is the smarter move, honestly, because if that seal weeps in two years you're out $85 and some time instead of $210, and by then the whole washer is probably done anyway. People act like OEM is some kind of guarantee, but LG doesn't even make half that stuff themselves, it's the same factory in China with a different sticker.
