Pro tip: a fridge in a garage in Phoenix taught me to check the condenser fan FIRST
Last Tuesday I got called out to a house in Phoenix where the guy's garage fridge was running hot and he swore it was low on freon. I pulled the back panel and the condenser fan was packed solid with dust and one very dead gecko. The compressor was fine the whole time, it just could not shed heat with that fan choked off. I cleaned it out, charged him $85, and now I always pull the back panel before I even hook up my gauges. How many of you have found critters jammed in a condenser fan?
