The dryer vent run in this 1970s house taught me to check the whole line before blaming the machine
Had a call last Thursday in a split level out in Fair Oaks where the dryer was taking two cycles to dry a load and the drum was getting hot to the touch. I pulled the back panel expecting a clogged blower wheel but it was spotless, so I ran a 20 foot auger down the vent and it hit something solid about 12 feet in. Turned out the old flexible foil duct had sagged and pinched itself shut behind the water heater closet, which nobody had looked at since the place was built. Swapped in rigid 4 inch pipe with a couple of elbows and the dry time dropped back to one cycle. Curious how many of you bill for a full vent inspection up front instead of just pulling the machine apart first?
