Update: Tried a $22 heat gun on a stuck dryer drum and it did nothing
Had a dryer last week where the drum would not budge, and I mean locked solid. Normally I'd just pull the belt and work the drum by hand, but this one was rusted to the shaft so bad I figured heat would break it loose. Grabbed a cheap $22 heat gun from the hardware store on 3rd and sat there for 15 minutes cooking that shaft. Nothing moved. What I learned is a heat gun just doesn't put out enough BTUs for rust that thick, and I ended up using a small torch in short bursts with a wet rag to protect the seal. Has anyone found a heat gun that actually works for this or am I wasting my time even keeping one in the van?
