Hot take: went with a Silky pole saw over a gas one for limbing, and my shoulders have thoughts
Had a row of 8 silver maples along a fence line in Ames last month and I had to pick between renting a gas pole saw for the day or buying a manual Silky. I went with the Silky because the limbs were mostly under 4 inches and I didn't want to deal with a pull cord in 90 degree heat. Took me about 3 hours for the whole row and I only had to stop twice to rest my arms, but honestly my shoulders were shot by the end. The gas one would've likely cut that time down to an hour and a half, but the noise and fumes right next to a customer's deck would've been rough. Curious if anyone here has a cutoff where they always switch to power, like a certain limb diameter or number of trees.
