Pro tip: don't label bags before you wash them, my sharpie dissolved on a 3,000 year old pot sherd
Was helping sort a collection from a dig near Oaxaca last week and wrote the site code on a bag with permanent marker before rinsing the sherds. Ink ran everywhere and I had to sit there with q-tips for two hours trying to figure out which pieces went together. Does anyone have a label pen that actually survives a water bath, or do I just wait for everything to dry first like a normal person?
