Chose the crusty $5 garage sale box of pastels over the shiny new $40 set at Blick and wow
Went to an estate sale in Boise two weeks ago and found a wooden box of like 60 old pastels for $5, label said they were from the 70s. I stood there for way too long debating between that box and a brand new $40 set at Blick, but something about the dusty ones felt right. Got them home, and yeah some are crumbly and the wrapper is gone on half, but the colors are weird and muted in a way I can't get with new ones. One broke into three pieces but honestly that just made me use it differently. Has anyone else picked up super old pastels at sales and do you do anything to keep them from falling apart more?
