My aunt the watercolor snob told me to stop using cheap paper and I painted a whole set of coasters that didn't turn into mush.

She was right, that $4 pad from the grocery store was basically paper towel, and now I'm stuck with three partly used tubes of Windsor blue because the new paper actually drinks up the paint instead of just soaking it into the kitchen table.

My buddy did the same thing and his coasters turned into weird damp frisbees.

I made a set out of old vinyl records. Took forever to sand the edges smooth and now I just have seven slightly wobbly discs that smell like mothballs. They still work I guess if you like your coffee mug listing 5 degrees to the left.
