I used to roll my eyes at the 'ask me anything' format until a Reddit thread changed my mind

Saw a thread where a historian answered questions about the 1918 pandemic and the details were way more specific than any article I've read. It convinced me the format can pull out real expertise you won't find elsewhere. Has anyone else had an AMA answer that actually taught them something solid?

What was the most surprising detail you learned?

Honestly, the most surprising detail was how much glue they used. The whole thing was basically held together with craft supplies and hope. Learning that a famous landmark's dome is just painted wood and wishful thinking really takes the magic out of it. You expect engineering, you get a middle school art project on a giant scale. Makes you look at everything else a little differently.
