Turns out my fireplace blower was running backwards for 2 winters
I noticed my living room stayed cold no matter how long the fire burned. So I grabbed a piece of tissue and held it at the vent. It pulled air inward instead of blowing it out. The motor had the fan blades installed wrong from the factory. One quick swap of the two wires and now the heat actually reaches the hallway. Has anyone else found a brand new appliance that just worked backwards out of the box?
Wait, the blades were on backwards from the factory? So it was wired right but the fan itself was flipped? I'm trying to picture how you even spot that without pulling the whole blower out.
