Tried to get a clear shot of the Milky Way at Cherry Springs State Park

Drove 3 hours last weekend to Cherry Springs, but the sky was completely washed out by a ton of car headlights from the parking lot. I waited until 2 AM and still couldn't get a clean exposure. Has anyone else run into light pollution ruining a specific spot they were excited about?

Wait, you drove all that way and got wrecked by parking lot lights? That's brutal. I had the same thing happen at Big Bend last year, thought I was in the middle of nowhere but some campers left their generator running and their RV lights on all night. Totally killed my long exposures.

Oh, I learned that lesson the hard way years ago in a cemetery of all places.
